Dr. Peter Dunlop Joins GBA
Dr. Peter Dunlop, PhD; PE has recently joined Gahagan & Bryant Associates, Inc., as a Senior Consulting Engineer. He has more than 30 years experience in the successful direction of civil, geotechnical and environmental projects in both technical management, engineering and design, and construction management.
Dr. Dunlop is currently providing engineering consulting services to The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey in efforts to dredge ship berths and the deepening of Federal channels in the Port of New York. He has reviewed contract documents for channel deepening to 50 feet, developed contract documents for a $50 million subaqueous confined disposal facility in Newark Bay, investigated dredged material disposal in geotextile containers and processing for upland placement and storage, sub-channel and off-channel storage options, beneficial uses of dredged material, solidification and stabilization, investigation of containment islands, as well as ocean disposal with sand capping.
Dr. Dunlop was responsible for geotechnical engineering in the realignment of the Welland Canal between Lake Ontario and Lake Erie. This project involved slope stability analyses, design of canal slopes for the Townline Road/Rail Tunnel under the canal, five miles of railroad approach cuts, and the excavation and disposal of 23 million cubic yards of clays.
