Robert D. Henry Joins GBA
ROBERT D. HENRY joins Gahagan & Bryant Associates (GBA) bringing with him a strong coastal management background that has spanned 34 years. Bob began his career with the Delaware Water and Air Resources Commission, before it was absorbed into the newly created Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) in 1970. He has been involved in the management of Delaware’s beaches for 32 of his 34 years with the State. Most recently he was Administrator of the Shoreline and Waterway Management Section for DNREC. His section was responsible for a variety of programs and initiatives designed to enhance, preserve and protect Delaware’s shoreline and navigable waterways. They included beach replenishment projects, public dune maintenance, regulation of coastal construction, NFIP coordination, coastal hazard mitigation, storm debris removal, maintenance dredging of navigable waterways and ponds, installation of aids to navigation, macroalgae harvesting and the operation of a sand bypassing facility at Indian River Inlet. He was also responsible for coordination of all federal shore protection studies and projects in Delaware with the Corps of Engineers.
Mr. Henry graduated from the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Science in Geological Oceanography and completed graduate coursework in Marine Studies at the University of Delaware.
