Position Summary:
GBA is seeking a self-motivated Engineering Intern with a demonstrated interest in Civil & Coastal Engineering. This role is located out of our Houston, TX office, and the selected candidate will be required to work in both the field and the office. This is a temporary position envisioned for Summer 2026. There is no relocation assistance associated with this internship. The selected candidate must be authorized to work in the US.
Responsibilities:
- Support project managers, engineers, and technical staff on technical, engineering, and construction related projects and assignments.
- Assist with design tasks as required (including CAD work, quantity & cost estimates, permit applications, technical specifications, drawing preparation, and report writing).
- Assist with field activities as required (topographic & hydrographic surveying, material sampling & testing, field studies, and construction oversight & inspection).
- Assist in writing, preparation, and review of technical reports and project documents.
Required Qualifications & Duties:
- Enrolled in an accredited undergraduate program pursuing an engineering degree (civil, environmental, coastal, or ocean) or closely related discipline.
- Must have the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-production environment, build successful team relationships and maintain positive coworker interactions.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as part of a team.
- Possesses effective oral and written communication skills.
- Travel should be expected based on project-specific requirements.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with programs such as AutoCAD Civil3D, HyPack, Pix4D, Global Mapper or similar are a plus.
